Excavation of bus found along Trishuli River to continue today



KATHMANDU: The excavation of a bus found along the banks of the Trishuli River at Dundrangbesi of Abukhaireni Rural Municipality–5 in Tanahun will continue today, police said.

The remains of the bus were discovered on Sunday after it was swept into the Trishuli River by a landslide along the Narayangadh–Muglin road section. Following the discovery, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force began excavation work on Sunday, which will continue today, according to the District Police Office, Tanahun.

Police said the front portion of a bus was found buried on the riverbank on Sunday. Deputy Superintendent of Police Shravan Kumar Bik of the Tanahun District Police Office said the bus is suspected to be the ‘Ganapati Deluxe’ bearing registration number Bagmati Province 03–001 Kha 2495, which went missing on Asar 28, 2081, while traveling from Kathmandu to Gaur. The bus had been swept away by a landslide at Simaltal in Bharatpur Metropolitan City–29, Chitwan.

Following the information, a team of two police personnel led by a Sub-Inspector from the Saranghat Area Police Office and another team of 12 led by an Inspector from the Abukhaireni Area Police Office were immediately deployed to the site.

Although a bus has been seen buried along the riverbank, police said it has not yet been fully confirmed. Excavation work and further investigation are currently underway, the police added.
