Fire in NEA sub-station causes damage worth Rs 30 million



SINDHUPALCHOWK: A fire erupted at a sub-station of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA)s Distribution Centre in Sindhupalchowk today has caused damage to the 30 AVM-transformer.

The fire erupted when the transformer in the sub-station went off all of a sudden, according to Sub-Station employees Phurwa Sange Lama.

He informed that there was an explosion in sub-station and the clouds of smoke was seen after the transformer went off.

According to him, the fire was so huge that it could not be doused by a person or two.

The fire was finally put out with coordinated effort of the Nepal Army (NA), Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, NEA staffers and locals.

The damage incurred in the transformer has been assessed to be at around Rs 30 million, shared NEA’s Sindhupalchowk Distribution Centre’s electrical engineer Rajan Bhandari.
