Construction begins on Tukucha River wastewater treatment plant



KATHMANDU: Work has begun on a wastewater treatment plant aimed at cleaning the polluted waters of the Tukucha River and making the water safe for consumption. The project is part of the Bagmati River Basin Improvement Project, implemented under the Ministry of Urban Development through the Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development High-Level Committee.

Funded with a loan from the Asian Development Bank, the project carries a budget of around Rs 1.52 billion. It was launched on 8 June 2022 and is scheduled to be completed by 5 June 2025, with a five-year operation and maintenance period following completion.

Recently, Urban Development Minister Kulman Ghising inspected the project site to review progress.
