Cold weather intensifies, Kathmandu Valley records 6°C

KATHMANDU: The cold spell has been intensifying across Nepal, including the Kathmandu Valley, over the past few days.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley was 6.0 degrees Celsius at 5:45 am today (Thursday).

Yesterday, Wednesday, the minimum temperature at the same time was also 6.0 degrees Celsius, but it later dropped to 5.5 degrees Celsius at 8:45 am. The minimum temperature refers to the lowest temperature recorded in a day.

Today, the official temperature is being measured again at 8:45 am, and meteorologists say there is a possibility that the minimum temperature in the valley could drop further.

Meteorologists explain that if the sky remains cloudy at night, the minimum temperature tends to rise slightly in the morning. Conversely, a clear night sky allows the temperature to fall.

The Division records both minimum and maximum temperatures daily at various locations across the country, including Kathmandu. The lowest temperature of the day is recorded at 8:45 am, while the highest temperature is recorded at 5:45 pm.
