Madhesh Chief Minister Yadav to seek vote of confidence on Wednesday
Madhesh Province Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav has announced that he will seek a vote of confidence on Wednesday. Speaking at a press conference in Janakpur on Tuesday, Yadav said he received the Supreme Court’s order through the Office of the Province Chief at 3 PM, which directed him to obtain a vote of confidence within 24 hours. Accordingly, he informed that the vote has been scheduled for 2 PM on Wednesday. He stated that he has already written to the Provincial Assembly to arrange the vote and expressed full commitment to comply with the Supreme Court’s directive.
Oli expresses dissatisfaction over Supreme Court order on Madhesh Chief Minister
CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has expressed dissatisfaction over the Supreme Court’s interim order directing the Madhesh Province Chief Minister to seek a vote of confidence within 24 hours. Speaking at the launch of a publication titled Forest, Environment and Climate Change Resource Book, organized by the UML’s Forest and Environment Department in Chyasal on Tuesday, Oli said that the court’s order in the case filed against Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav contradicts the constitution.
Rossington’s century powers Pokhara to victory, Karnali suffer fourth straight defeat
Pokhara Avengers clinched a 34-run win against Karnali Yaks in the second match on Tuesday of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) Season 2, with help from a century from Adam Rossington. Losing the toss at TU International Cricket Ground, Pokhara batted first and posted a formidable total of 201 runs for the loss of just two wickets. Chasing 202, Karnali were bowled out for 167 in 19 overs.
Myagdi section of Beni-Jomsom-Korala road blacktopped after 19 years
The Myagdi section of the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road has been blacktopped after 19 years, marking a major milestone in the region’s road infrastructure development. Out of the 33 kilometers from Beni to Kavrebhir, the Mustang border, the section has been fully blacktopped. Engineer Bishnu Chapagain of the road project said the road was widened to 11 meters before being blacktopped.
NEPSE dips slightly by 0.53 points; turnover reaches Rs 4.48 billion
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) fell by a marginal 0.53 points on Tuesday, closing at 2,644.70 points. Despite the slight decline, the market recorded a substantial turnover of Rs 4.48 billion. According to NEPSE, out of the total companies traded today, share prices of 125 companies increased, while 119 saw a decline. Likewise, 13 companies witnessed no change in their share prices.
Nepal Medical Association warns of rising influenza risk as cold season begins
The Nepal Medical Association (NMA) has urged the public to remain cautious as the cold season begins, warning of an increased risk of influenza virus infections. In an appeal issued on Monday, the NMA particularly advised children, the elderly, and individuals with weak immunity to get the flu vaccine on time.
Janakpur Bolts secure first NPL win with dominant chase against Chitwan Rhinos

Three Nepalis dead, 24 injured as bus catches fire after collision in Uttar Pradesh
Three Nepali nationals have died, and 24 others were injured after a bus carrying Nepali passengers met with an accident in India’s Uttar Pradesh state. The bus, which had departed from Sunauli and was headed toward New Delhi, collided with a truck in Balrampur district. The truck was reportedly transporting warm clothes to Assam.
Food imports via Birgunj reach Rs 5.89 billion in four months
Food imports through the Birgunj checkpoint have reached Rs 5.89 billion in the first four months of the current fiscal year, an increase of Rs 1.24 billion compared to the same period last year. Bishnu Prasad Gyawali, chief of the Birgunj Customs Office, said that maize worth Rs 2.29 billion and paddy worth Rs 2.1 billion were imported during the period.
NC leader Shashank Koirala says party needs more time for general convention
Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shashank Koirala has said that the party requires more time to hold its general convention. Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Koirala said that at least three months are needed to organize the convention properly. “Time is short. If the convention cannot be held in January, it will take place after the elections,” he said.
Proportional representation election process for House of Representatives begins from Dec 6
The election process under the proportional representation (PR) system for the upcoming House of Representatives election will begin from December 6. The Election Commission has started preparations after establishing the Office of Election Officer for proportional representation at the Commission’s Kantipath office from Sunday.
Home Minister Aryal assures smooth, secure elections despite escaped prisoners
Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has urged the public not to be misled by doubts about the upcoming House of Representatives election on March 5, 2026, despite a few weapons and escaped prisoners being at large. Speaking at the inauguration of a Sudurpaschim Province-level security workshop jointly organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the province’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law on Tuesday, Aryal emphasized that the government is committed to conducting the election in a safe, fair, and independent environment.
Gold price dips slightly, silver rises
Due to fluctuations in the international market, gradual price increases, and changing demand, gold prices in Nepal have slightly declined today. According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of one tola of gold has been set at Rs 253,300. Meanwhile, silver prices have increased to Rs 3,545 per tola.
Ambassador Tuladhar appointed as non-resident ambassador to Norway
President Ram Chandra Paudel has appointed Sumnima Tuladhar, currently Nepal’s ambassador to Denmark, as the non-resident ambassador to Norway. The appointment was made under Article 282 (1) of the Constitution on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, according to the Office of the President.
UML takes action against two Taplejung leaders ahead of 11th National General Convention
CPN-UML is moving into its 11th National General Convention, scheduled for December 13–15 in Bhaktapur, with most districts having already selected their delegates, many through consensus and a few through elections. However, tensions have surfaced in Taplejung, where two leaders aligned with UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai have been suspended amid allegations of obstruction and misconduct during the delegate selection process.
Contract for Inaruwa–Kaptangunj section of Postal Highway terminated over poor progress
The contract for constructing the Inaruwa–Kaptangunj road section under the Postal Highway in Sunsari has been terminated. The Project Office, Itahari, under the Postal Highway Directorate, decided on Tuesday to cancel the 22.66-kilometer road construction contract. With this decision, the agreement with Gauri Parwati–Dev & Sair–Bhumi Joint Venture (JV), Biratnagar, has officially come to an end.
