KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shashank Koirala has said that the party requires more time to hold its general convention.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Koirala said that at least three months are needed to organize the convention properly. “Time is short. If the convention cannot be held in January, it will take place after the elections,” he said.
He said while the party had considered holding the convention in January, it is not yet finalized whether it will happen. Koirala added that all preparations for the convention must continue and that even the Gen-Z group should be included in the process.
On the issue of candidacy for the party presidency, he said, “I was planning to contest for the president’s post. Senior leader Shekhar Koirala is also interested. Discussions are ongoing. Only one of us will contest.”
