Three advisors removed from PM’s Secretariat accuse PM of falling under influence of agents
Three advisors removed from Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s Secretariat a day earlier have issued a joint statement strongly objecting to the decision. They allege that the Prime Minister’s move reflects disregard, favoritism, and personal vendetta. Youth and social expert Pradeep Gyawali, information technology expert Arun Katuwal, and Section Officer Akriti Ghimire stated that the Prime Minister appeared to have fallen into the grip of a vested interest group.
UML leaders question PM on restrictions against KP Sharma Oli
Prime Minister Sushila Karki has held her first direct political dialogue with the CPN-UML following the changed political situation after the Gen-Z movement. UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali, and former Chief Whip Mahesh Bartoula met the Prime Minister at Baluwatar for talks. During the meeting, UML leaders raised concerns about what they call “media trials” against the party and its leaders. Most notably, they questioned the decision to restrict the movement of former Prime Minister and UML Chair KP Sharma Oli.
PM Karki dismisses 14 Secretariat appointees amid controversy
Prime Minister (PM) Sushila Karki has taken further steps to streamline her advisory and secretariat team. When she assumed office, 20 individuals had been appointed to various positions in the Prime Minister’s Secretariat; however, that number has now been reduced to six. According to a statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, only six positions have been retained: Chief Advisor, Public Relations Advisor, Chief Personal Secretary, Press Coordinator, Personal Section Officer (Photographer), and an unpaid Public Health Expert.

NRB rolls out new Rs 100 note with added security features
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has issued a new NPR 100 note, which comes into circulation starting today, the central bank announced in an official statement. The newly released note carries the same pledge as previous notes: “On demand, the Nepal Rastra Bank will pay the bearer one hundred rupees guaranteed by the Government of Nepal.”

A group of Gen-Z activists staged a protest against the government at Maitighar Mandala on Thursday. The demonstrators carried placards highlighting their grievances, with slogans such as, “In Oli’s game, under Sushila’s rule, all Gen-Z in jail,” “Sushila’s misrule brings suffering,” and “Chaos under the guise of Gen-Z, Sushila government in turmoil.” Protesters also tied black bands around their heads as a symbol of dissent.

Former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara released on Rs 2 million bail
Former Speaker and CPN (Maoist Centre) Vice-chair Krishna Bahadur Mahara, who was arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) in connection with a gold smuggling case, has been released on bail. The Patan High Court on Thursday ordered his release on a bail amount of Rs 2 million. Mahara was arrested on October 12 following fresh instructions from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), which is conducting an inquiry into his alleged involvement in smuggling gold concealed inside electronic cigarettes (vapes) in collaboration with a Chinese organized group.
Cleaning work begins at Rasuwagadhi dry port after flood damage
Cleanup operations have begun at the dry port near the Rasuwagadhi Customs Office, which was heavily affected by flooding in the Lhende River on July 08. The flooding had deposited large amounts of stones, sand, metal rods, timber, and other debris across the dry port premises. With the Bailey bridge nearing completion after the flood swept away the Nepal–China friendship bridge, the process of cleaning the dry port has formally commenced, according to the Rasuwa Customs Office.
ANNFSU (R) group pressures govt. to release Bishnu Dhungel
The Maoist-affiliated All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (Revolutionary) has raised objections over the arrest of its leader and former Free Student Union (FSU) president of Nepal Law Campus, Bishnu Dhungel, who has been named the main suspect in the Supreme Court arson case. Niroj Shrestha, in-charge of the Kathmandu Valley Special Province Committee of the group, issued a statement on Thursday, criticizing Dhungel’s arrest. He said the detention, based solely on photographs and video clips from September 8 and 9, was unacceptable.

Acid attack survivor Muskan Khatun has entered politics, joining the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) on Thursday. She was formally welcomed at a party unity ceremony held at the National Assembly Hall. Party leaders are preparing to appoint her as a central member. Alongside Muskan, Rajendra Shrestha, President of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Federal Council, was also welcomed by NCP coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and other party leaders.
