RAUTAHAT: District Court, Rautahat on Sunday extended the judicial custody of suspended lawmaker Mohammad Aftab Alam by five more days.

Earlier on Tuesday, the court had granted permission to police to remand the ex-minister for seven days for the investigation. The remand was expiring today.

Former Minister Alam was arrested on the charge of his involvement in a bomb blast that occurred in Rautahat district in April 2008.

The ex-minister is accused of burning 23 of his cadres, including 21 Indian nationals, to death in a brick kiln in Rautahat. The cadres were reportedly making a bomb following Alam’s order and were injured when the bomb accidentally went off. Seven persons were killed in the bombing.
