Minister Ghising inspects flood-affected areas of Jhapa



JHAPA: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development, Kulman Ghising, inspected flood-affected areas of Jhapa district this morning.

Minister Ghising visited damaged bridges and settlements in Arjundhara Municipality and Jhapa Rural Municipality, which were severely impacted by flooding from the Kankai and Biring rivers.

On his return from inspecting flood-affected areas in Ilam, the minister also surveyed the road connecting Kalisthan from Buttabari in Arjundhara Municipality via Salbari and Chiyapani to Mangalamadi.

In Jhapa Rural Municipality, he inspected a bridge under construction over the Kankaimai River along the Hulaki Road section, as well as the Sanomai Bridge, which was submerged due to recent heavy rainfall. He also observed the surrounding affected areas.

According to Jhapa Assistant Chief District Officer Tej Prakash Prasai, Minister Ghising briefly interacted with residents of Jhapa Rural Municipality Ward No. 2 who were impacted by the floods.
