CPN-UML secretariat to meet in Gundu today to discuss political situation and party agenda

BHAKTAPUR: The central secretariat of the CPN-UML is holding a meeting in Gundu, Bhaktapur, at 11 a.m. today to discuss the current political situation, internal party management, and preparations for the upcoming central committee meeting.

According to party officials, the meeting will also assess the state of the party following the recent “Gen Z Movement,” which has influenced national politics and public sentiment. The session aims to finalize agendas for the next central committee meeting and review the government’s possible next steps and election prospects.

The secretariat meeting was initially scheduled for October 5 and 6 but was postponed due to continuous rainfall.

Party Chair KP Sharma Oli is expected to brief the meeting on his recent virtual discussions with provincial, district, and diaspora leaders, focusing on the party’s organizational readiness and national political developments.

According to UML Central Office Secretary Dr. Bhishma Adhikari, the party’s central committee meeting, earlier slated for October 13–15, has been rescheduled to October 15–17 due to incomplete preparations.

Adhikari also said the location of the upcoming meeting has not yet been finalized because the UML central office in Chyasal suffered fire and vandalism damage during the Gen Z protests.
