Israeli intelligence obtains new video of abducted Nepali national Bipin Joshi

KATHMANDU: Israeli intelligence agencies have obtained a new video of Bipin Joshi, the Nepali student abducted by Hamas during the October 7 attacks in 2023, according to Israeli media reports. His family has confirmed that the video will be made public on Wednesday evening.

The Hostage Families Forum of Israel said that the video was recently recovered by Israeli intelligence units and shows Joshi, who was abducted from Kibbutz Alumim during the Hamas assault.

In a statement, the Joshi family said, “This proof of life from Gaza has strengthened our unshakable belief that he is still alive.”

Bipin Joshi had arrived in Israel just three weeks before the October 7 massacre to take part in an agricultural training program. He was taken hostage from Kibbutz Alumim, where several Nepali students were residing.

According to a Wall Street Journal report published in November 2023, Joshi had saved the lives of several people hiding in a shelter before being captured. The report mentioned that he caught one of two grenades thrown into the shelter—preventing further casualties.
