Maoist Centre gears up preparation for general elections: Chair Dahal



KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Centre) has expressed grief over the loss of life and property in eastern Nepal due to monsoon-induced disasters and called for effective management of the affected individuals.

The secretariat meeting of the general convention organizing committee convened today at the party headquarters in Paris Danda in the capital urged collective efforts for post-disaster reconstruction.

Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota shared that the meeting acknowledged the contributions of party leaders and cadres involved in disaster response efforts.

He noted there was a general discussion regarding the current political situation, with an in-depth discussion planned for the secretariat meeting soon.

During the meeting, Chair Dahal provided an update on the advancements concerning party unity, socialist front, and expansion of the united front.

Dahal, also the coordinator of the general convention organizing committee, indicated ongoing discussions with political parties represented in the dissolved parliament to ensure successful conduction of the upcoming House of Representatives elections.

He shared the leadership is actively working to foster a positive environment to facilitate the elections in the scheduled date. “Constructive discussions are taking place among all parties regarding election participation, indicating a general consensus on proceeding with the elections”, spokesperson Sapkota quoted coordinator Dahal.

“Elections are essential for safeguarding the Federal Democratic Republic, the Constitution, and other political achievements. Thus, the Maoists are highly prioritizing the elections,” Sapkota added.

Following the meeting, coordinator Dahal asserted that elections should take place in the scheduled date. He emphasized the importance of participation from all political parties in the elections.
