BP Highway to reopen within 3-4 days: Minister Ghising

KATHMANDU: The government has stated that efforts are underway to reopen the BP Highway, which has been blocked due to continuous rainfall.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development, Kulman Ghising, said that the Bhakundebesi–Nepalthok section of the BP Highway will be brought back into operation as soon as possible.

Speaking at a press conference organized by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure, Minister Ghising stated that the highway is expected to reopen within three to four days. He added that work is already underway to remove debris and create diversions to resume travel on the BP Highway and the Mechi Highway.

“We have started immediate repair work on the damaged sections of the road, particularly the Bhakundebesi–Nepalthok stretch,” said Minister Ghising. “Efforts are being made to mobilize equipment as quickly as possible. In the meantime, I request everyone to use alternative routes.”
