Government requests private helicopters to remain on standby



KATHMANDU: The government has requested private helicopters to remain on standby for immediate use in disaster response.

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday issued a letter to the Airline Operators Association, asking that private helicopters be kept ready for deployment upon written or verbal request.

As per the agreement between the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) and the association, helicopters are to be kept on standby to support search and rescue, relief, relocation, and rehabilitation efforts in case of floods, landslides, and inundation triggered by heavy rainfall.
