CHITWAN: The jeep safari service in Chitwan National Park (CNP) has officially resumed today after a seasonal suspension during the monsoon period.
The service had been halted since June 30 due to safety concerns, including the risk of damage to forest roads, flooding from swollen rivulets, falling trees, and other hazards to visitors and wildlife.
This season, the same jeeps that were in operation last year have been re-authorized for service. Operators have been instructed to ensure their vehicles are in proper condition before resuming safari operations.
Currently, the park has a fleet of 49 jeeps providing safari services: 32 from Sauraha, nine from Meghauli, five from Amaltari, two from Ujauli, and one from Madi.
Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of Nepal’s most popular wildlife tourism destinations, known for its population of Bengal tigers, one-horned rhinoceroses, and diverse birdlife.
