KP Oli says govt must provide security even if facilities are denied

BHAKTAPUR: CPN-UML Chair and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that while the government may deny certain facilities, it has a duty to provide security.

Addressing a tea program in Bhaktapur on Thursday, Oli raised questions about the government’s inaction despite recent social media posts showing plans to track and surround his residence.

“You might have seen on social media that there was a plan to locate and surround KP Oli’s house. The location is known. What is the government doing?” he asked.

Oli criticized the government for actions such as withdrawing facilities, vehicles, or passports and filing cases against him. “The government says it will take back facilities, vehicles, restrict passports, and file cases. But does it have no duty? Even if officials don’t need the facilities, shouldn’t they provide security?” he questioned.

The former Prime Minister also metaphorically compared the political situation to weather, saying, “Weather is never always fair. Sometimes it rains, sometimes it’s cloudy, but eventually, the sun comes out, and we smile again.”
