Two dead, one injured in Sarlahi road accident

SARLAHI: Two young men were killed and another seriously injured when a motorcycle was hit by a Scorpio SUV in Sarlahi district on Friday night.

The accident occurred along the Hulaki Highway at Brahmapuri Rural Municipality–5, near Nepal’s southern border. Police identified the deceased as Ankit Chaudhary, 23, and Rohit Sahani, 25, both residents of Brahmapuri–2. Another rider, 23-year-old Shivshankar Pandit, sustained critical injuries and is undergoing treatment at LS Neuro Hospital in Bara, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Saroj Rai.

The motorcycle (Province 3–03–001 Pa 7575) was heading in the opposite direction when it was struck by an Indian-registered Scorpio (MH 04 DJ 1297) traveling from Parsa toward Belhi.

Chaudhary and Sahani were rushed to Ram Janaki Hospital in Janakpur but were declared dead on arrival. Police have taken both vehicles under control, while the driver of the Scorpio fled the scene. Search efforts to apprehend the suspect are ongoing, DSP Rai said.
