KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has said it will cooperate with the government in investigations into incidents that occurred during the recent Gen-Z protests.
Speaking to journalists at the party office in Banasthali on Tuesday, RSP spokesperson Manish Jha said the party’s leaders had been unfairly linked to incidents of vandalism and arson. He clarified that RSP leaders and cadres had actively participated in the September 8 protest but were not involved in the violence and arson that followed on September 9.
Jha said he went to Nakkhu Jail on the day of the protest after learning that there was a risk of arson there, but denied taking part as a leader of demonstrators. He added that the party had taken responsibility for Rabi Lamichhane’s security only after being formally requested by prison authorities.
Jha also commented on recent resignations from the party, including that of Sumana Shrestha, saying the RSP respects their contributions and will move forward with a review.
