If you must, call me junk scientist minister: Mahabir Pun

KATHMANDU: National Innovation Center founder Mahabir Pun, recommended as Minister for Education, Science and Technology, has asked people not to address him as minister.

On Sunday, after Prime Minister Sushila Karki nominated him to the post, Pun took to Facebook requesting well-wishers not to congratulate him or bring garlands. Instead, he asked the public to send concrete ideas and proposals for reforms in education, science, and technology that can be implemented within the next five months.

“My first announcement, please don’t call to congratulate me or come with garlands. If you have solid ideas that can be implemented in education, science, and technology within five months, send them to me on WhatsApp,” Pun said.

He further quipped, “Don’t call me minister. If you really must, then call me Junk Scientist Minister.”

Pun is scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas, later today.
