KATHMANDU: A total of 168 prominent civic leaders have issued a joint statement urging that the ongoing political crisis triggered by the Gen Z protests be resolved strictly within the framework of the constitution.
In their statement, the signatories condemned the recent violence, including the suppression and killings of demonstrators, calling it an unacceptable use of force against citizens. They stressed that while the grievances of youth protesters must be addressed, the solution cannot come through destruction or unconstitutional moves.
“The Parliament is a representative and legitimate institution chosen by the Nepali people,” the statement concluded. “Therefore, the exit from this crisis must also come through a constitutional process, this is our firm position, and we wish to make it clear to the public.”
