PM Oli issues whip to UML ministers not to resign

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has instructed ministers from the CPN-UML not to resign from their posts.

Amid mounting pressure following Monday’s Gen Z protests, Oli told UML ministers that the government would conduct a serious investigation into reports of infiltration in the demonstrations, and therefore, they should not step down.

When asked by Khabarhub on Tuesday, one UML minister confirmed: “The Prime Minister told us not to resign. He said a high-level probe committee has already been announced, and there is no need to panic. He assured us that infiltration occurred in the Gen Z protests and that this must be investigated.”

So far, no UML ministers have tendered their resignations. However, Congress leader and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak submitted his resignation to the Prime Minister on Monday. On Tuesday, Agriculture Minister Ramnath Adhikari also resigned, while Health Minister Pradeep Paudel and Tourism Minister Badri Pandey are reportedly preparing to follow suit.
