Two arrested on fraud charges over foreign employment scam



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two individuals on charges of fraud after they allegedly swindled victims by falsely promising foreign employment opportunities in Israel and Japan.

The suspects have been identified as Susan Tamrakar, 28, of Putalibazaar Municipality-1, Syangja, and Yogendra Ghale, 50, of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15.

According to police, Tamrakar took Rs 120,000 from a victim with the promise of employment in Israel, while Ghale allegedly took Rs 600,000 from another individual claiming he could secure a job in Japan. Both suspects then went out of contact.

Acting on complaints filed by the victims, a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, arrested Tamrakar from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-9 on Sunday, and Ghale from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-10 on Monday.

Police said both individuals have been sent to the Department of Foreign Employment, Tahachal, for further investigation and legal action.
