Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has inaugurated a contact office in Thapagaun, Kathmandu, marking a fresh step toward political re-engagement after her tenure as head of state. The Education, Health and Information Technology Committee of the House of Representatives has endorsed the School Education Bill, 2080. The committee meeting held at Singha Durbar on Thursday passed the bill following deliberations on its report. Private school owners protest over School Education Bill exclusions
Private school owners and principals staged a protest at Maitighar on Thursday, expressing their dissatisfaction over the exclusion of their demands from the report on the School Education Bill. Carrying black banners, the demonstrators assembled at the Maitighar roundabout, placing their banners directly on the road. Construction of the stands at TU Cricket Ground nears completion
Construction work on the parapet and seating at the Tribhuvan University (TU) cricket ground in Kirtipur has reached its final stage. According to BKOI–KCDC–BG JV representative Prem Paudel, more than 95 percent of the project has been completed, with only final tasks such as cleaning and railing installation remaining.
NOC prepares to take over Motihari–Amlekhgunj pipeline as testing nears completion
The Motihari–Amlekhgunj petroleum pipeline is in its final stage of preparation for transfer to Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC). With all expansion work completed, petroleum products are now being imported regularly through the pipeline from Motihari to Amlekhgunj.

Gyanendra Shahi calls for national consensus on border disputes
Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) spokesperson and chief whip Gyanendra Shahi has urged Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to build a national consensus to resolve Nepal’s ongoing geopolitical challenges, particularly the boundary disputes in Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura, and Kalapani. NC terms India–China Lipulekh trade deal unacceptable
The ruling Nepali Congress has strongly objected to the recent agreement between India and China to conduct border trade through Lipulekh, calling the deal objectionable and unacceptable. Home Ministry transfers CDOs in Kathmandu Valley
The Ministry of Home Affairs has reshuffled the Chief District Officers (CDOs) of all three districts in the Kathmandu Valley. In Wednesday’s decision, Chhabi Lal Rijal has been appointed as the CDO of Kathmandu, while Under-Secretary Suman Ghimire has been posted to Lalitpur. Similarly, Under-Secretary Namaraj Ghimire has been transferred to Bhaktapur.
NEPSE to build data center
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has announced plans to construct a new data center and has invited tenders for the procurement of servers, firewalls, and network switches. According to a notice issued by Nepse, interested bidders must submit a security deposit of Rs 400,000 along with their applications. The deadline for tender submission is September 21.

Gold and silver prices rise on Thursday
The price of precious metals increased on Thursday, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association. The price of fine gold has been fixed at Rs 194,800 per tola, marking an increase of Rs 1,300 from Wednesday’s rate of Rs 193,500 per tola.
Nepal Intellectual Council calls for diplomatic resolution of border dispute with India
The Nepal Intellectual Council has called on Nepal and India to resolve their border disputes through diplomatic channels. In a statement released on Thursday, Council Chair Gajendra Prasad Thapaliya highlighted the importance of a negotiated settlement. The statement came in response to reports that India and China had reached an agreement at the ministerial level to reopen trade through the Lipulekh route. Lalit Rajbanshi declines govt housing, says he can build his own home
Nepali national cricket team member Lalit Rajbanshi has stated that he is capable of building a house for his family and does not wish to take a home offered under the Koshi Province government’s “Janata Awas Program.”
He made the remarks to reporters in Biratnagar on Thursday.
