Tourism department to prioritize tech-friendly reforms



KATHMANDU: The Department of Tourism has announced plans to make its services more organized and technology-driven, with a focus on institutionalization, process simplification, systemic reforms, and digital regulation.

According to its recently published annual report, the department aims to create a tourism administration that is business-friendly, investment-friendly, and technology-friendly in order to enhance the sector’s overall appeal. It has placed priority on aligning international best practices with national systems, as well as on developing and expanding tourism-related activities.

Director General Dr. Narayan Prasad Regmi said that initiatives have been taken to make the department’s operations simpler, easier, and more business-oriented. For the first time, the department has presented an annual report outlining its accomplishments, future work plans, challenges, and areas requiring reform.

Dr. Regmi noted that efforts have been made to overcome procedural hurdles and ensure smooth operations. He added that the department is also working toward policy-level reforms.
