Japan sends in troops to save residents in Tokyo

TOKYO: Japan has sent thousands of troops along with rescue workers to save stranded residents as well as to fight the floods triggered by one of the worst typhoons to hit Japan in recent history, which killed 23 people.

Media reports said 16 people were missing as Typhoon Hagibis left vast swaths of low-lying land in eastern and central Japan inundated and cutting power to almost half a million homes. (Agencies)
