KATHMANDU: Seven major roads across the country have been completely blocked due to floods and landslides triggered by continuous rainfall, according to the Nepal Police Headquarters.
As of Sunday afternoon, vehicle movement has been halted on these highways, while another seven roads are operating with one-way traffic.
Roads that have been fully blocked include the Koshi Highway in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality of Sankhuwasabha; the Nepal–China border bridge and Pasang Lhamu Highway in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality of Rasuwa; the Shahid Highway in Pariwartan Rural Municipality of Rolpa; the Jajarkot–Dolpa–Bheri Corridor in Aathbiskot Rural Municipality-1 of Rukum West; the Karnali Corridor in Jumla; and the Dolpa Road in Jajarkot.
Meanwhile, one-way traffic is being alternately managed on the Kathmandu–Nuwakot Road; the Galchhi–Triveni section in Uttargaya, Rasuwa; the Kaligandaki Corridor in Baglung and Nawalparasi East; the Beni–Jomsom Road in Mustang; and the Prithvi Highway in Tanahun.
Authorities have urged travelers to exercise caution and stay updated with traffic and weather advisories. Efforts to clear debris and restore full traffic movement are currently underway.
