Driving license validity extended to 10 years

KATHMANDU: The government has extended the validity period of driving licenses from five years to 10 years.

An amendment to the Vehicle and Transport Management Act, 2049, has officially revised the license duration. Previously, driving licenses were valid for only five years, after which drivers were required to renew them. With the new provision, licenses will now be valid for up to ten years.

According to Section 23 of the “Act to Amend Some Nepal Acts,” published in the Nepal Gazette, the words “up to five years” in Sub-section 3 of Section 54 of the Act have been replaced with “up to ten years.” A similar amendment has been made to Sub-section 3 of Section 56.
