KATHMANDU: Since the beginning of Baisakh (mid-April), Nepal has recorded 1,011 fire incidents, resulting in 15 deaths and injuries to 144 people. A total of 1,124 families have been affected.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), a total of 2,456 disaster-related incidents have occurred during this period. Among them, 243 lightning strikes have been reported, causing 28 deaths and injuring 169 people. Lightning incidents have affected 283 families.
There have also been 66 reported snakebite cases, leading to eight fatalities and injuries to 64 individuals. These incidents impacted 73 families.
Animal attacks accounted for 134 cases, resulting in 12 deaths and 62 injuries, affecting 206 families. Additionally, 12 people each have died due to floods and windstorms.
The NDRRMA also reported 241 landslides during the same period, causing 12 fatalities. Of 276 windstorm incidents, eight resulted in death.
On Tuesday alone, eight flood events, 16 landslides, five fires, and three animal attacks were recorded.
