Parliament extends Civil Service Bill probe by one week



KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives on Friday agreed to extend the tenure of the special parliamentary investigation committee formed to look into alleged errors in the report on the Federal Civil Service Bill, 2023, by one week.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire informed the House that the committee had requested an additional seven days to complete its work. The committee was initially formed on July 7 to investigate claims of irregularities in the report submitted by the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee.

The main concern revolves around alleged tampering with provisions related to the “cooling-off period” for retired civil servants, which appeared to have been altered when the bill was forwarded to the House.
