Fires destroy property worth over Rs 2 million in eastern Nepal



KATHMANDU: Multiple incidents of fire across eastern Nepal have destroyed property worth over Rs 2.3 million, according to local police reports.

In Sunsari’s Barahakshetra Municipality-2, a fire broke out at the cowshed of Subash Rai on Thursday night, causing damage worth approximately Rs 900,000.

Similarly, a blaze at a scrap warehouse operated by Amit Jaishwal in Duhabi-3, Sunsari, on Thursday afternoon destroyed goods worth around Rs 600,000.

In Siraha district, property worth about Rs 250,000 was lost when a fire engulfed the cowshed of Kujilal Dhari in Hanumannagar, Dhangadhimai-3, on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, in Bhojpur’s Shadananda Municipality-1, a fire at the house of Krishna Sunam in Aambote on Thursday afternoon caused damages estimated at Rs 600,000.

Authorities said the fires were brought under control with the help of local residents and firefighting teams. Investigations into the causes of the fires are ongoing.
