KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has called for expressions of interest (EOIs) from the private sector for the construction of four major transmission line projects under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
In a notice published Sunday, the NEA announced plans to develop the New Khimti–Dhalkeber, Arun (Hub)–Inaruwa, Tingla–Dudh Koshi–Dhalkeber, and Lapsiphedi–Tinpipley transmission lines through joint investment with the private sector.
According to the NEA, the New Khimti–Dhalkebar line will be a 400kV transmission route stretching 80 kilometers, with an estimated cost of USD 80 million. Similarly, the Arun (Hub)–Inaruwa line will span 94 kilometers and is also projected to cost around USD 80 million. Both lines will operate at 400kV capacity.
The Tingla–Dudh Koshi–Dhalkeber line, meanwhile, will be the longest of the four at 118 kilometers and is estimated to cost USD 142 million. The Lapsiphedi–Tinpipley line, at 30 kilometers, will have a 220kV capacity and is expected to require around USD 18 million for construction.
All four projects are part of NEA’s larger push to expand the national transmission network and accommodate growing domestic electricity demand as well as facilitate regional power trade.
Interested companies have been invited to submit their EOIs within 30 days of the notice.
