Trump orders release of Epstein Grand Jury Testimony amid pressure

WASHINGTON DC: U.S. President Donald Trump has directed the Department of Justice to release all relevant grand jury testimony connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, BBC reported.

Writing on Truth Social, Trump stated, “Due to the extraordinary media attention surrounding Jeffrey Epstein, I’ve instructed Attorney General Pam Bondi to release all pertinent grand jury materials, pending court approval.”

Shortly after Trump’s post, Bondi confirmed: “We’re prepared to ask the court tomorrow to unseal the grand jury transcripts.”

This announcement follows mounting pressure from Trump’s “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) base, which has been demanding greater transparency in the Epstein case. It remains unclear whether Trump intends to make the documents public or what the timeline for any release might be, as such disclosures typically require judicial consent.

During his 2024 campaign, Trump had pledged to declassify files related to Epstein. However, last week Bondi stated that the Justice Department had found no credible evidence of a so-called “client list” implicating high-profile individuals and reiterated the official conclusion that Epstein died by suicide. These remarks sparked backlash among Trump’s supporters, many of whom demanded Bondi’s resignation, accusing her of concealing information the administration previously claimed to possess.

Epstein died in 2019 in a Manhattan jail while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. His death came over a decade after a prior conviction for soliciting sex from a minor, which led to his designation as a registered sex offender.
