Heavy rain likely in four provinces today



KATHMANDU: Monsoon winds are currently affecting weather conditions across Nepal, resulting in widespread cloud cover and an increased likelihood of rainfall.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy across the country this afternoon.

Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in several hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in a few other locations across the country.

There is also a chance of heavy rainfall in one or two places in the hilly regions. In the high-hilly and mountainous areas, light to moderate rain or snowfall is possible in a few places.

The Department’s Weather Forecast Division ha sstated that tonight, conditions will remain partly to generally cloudy nationwide. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected in some hilly areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in isolated parts of the rest of the country.

The Division has also warned of the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two locations within Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Light to moderate rainfall or snowfall is also expected in some high-hilly and mountainous areas.

It has advised the public to remain alert, especially in regions at risk of landslides, flash floods, and other monsoon-related hazards.
