House session adjourned for 30 minutes following continues RSP protest

KATHMANDU: Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives was adjourned for 30 minutes after continued protests from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) over the visit visa scandal.

At the start of the session, RSP lawmaker Chanda Bhandari Karki reiterated the party’s demand for the formation of a high-level or judicial investigation committee to probe the scandal. She made the call after Speaker Devraj Ghimire provided time for remarks.

Soon after, Nepali Congress Chief Whip Shyam Ghimire objected to RSP lawmakers wearing blue ribbons around their necks as a form of symbolic protest. He urged all lawmakers to maintain parliamentary decorum and adhere to the dress code.

Amid rising tensions and no immediate resolution in sight, Speaker Ghimire adjourned the session for 30 minutes.

RSP has been disrupting House proceedings for several days, demanding accountability from the government and the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak in connection with the scandal.
