Panchthar bridge collapse victims succumb to injuries



PANCHTHAR: Three workers injured in the collapse of an under-construction bailey bridge over the Hewa Khola in Panchthar have died during treatment.

The workers, all from Simara in Bara district, were injured when the bridge, located along the Mechi Highway, collapsed on Saturday. They were referred to Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar after treatment was not possible at Panchthar Hospital.

According to DSP Kaushal Kumar Budhathoki, Chief of the District Police Office, Panchthar, the deceased have been identified as 22-year-old Ruplal Chaudhary, Prakash Chaudhary, and 27-year-old Rajan Chaudhary, all residents of Simara Sub-metropolitan City in Bara. Doctors at Nobel Hospital declared them dead during treatment.

Police said that the condition of two other injured workers remains critical. All the injured were transported to Biratnagar on Saturday night for advanced medical care.
