Playground constructed in Myagdi’s Paudwar

MYAGDI: A new playground has been constructed in Paudwar, Annapurna Rural Municipality-5, Myagdi, with support from the local government and community.

The Khayar Bharani Youth Club, with assistance from Annapurna Rural Municipality, led the project. According to Bhabin Paija, Secretary of the Consumers Committee, the 85-meter-long and 30-meter-wide playground was built by leveling land using heavy equipment.

The project was completed with a budget of Rs. 2.15 million provided by the rural municipality.

“The playground was constructed at a new site because using the school grounds for sports activities had begun to disrupt teaching and learning,” said Paija. A gabion wall was built for support, and a wire mesh fence was installed to prevent balls from going out of bounds.

Local resident Ramkrishna Tilija donated one aana of land valued at Rs. 220,000, and an additional three ropanis of land worth Rs. 660,000 were purchased for the project.

In a show of strong community involvement, 135 households each contributed one day of labor, and members of the youth club also volunteered during construction.

While the playing field is now ready for use, supporting infrastructure such as a stage, parapet, and public toilets is yet to be completed. The new facility has made it significantly easier for local youth to train and organize sporting events.
