Police arrest three people accused of gang rape

SUNSARI: Three people have been arrested on the charge of gang rape on a woman in Itahari.

The Area Police Office Itahari said two others involved in the rape are absconding.

The arrested have been identified as a bus driver Bikas Kasai of Sundar Haraincha-12, Sujendra Bhujel of Siraha, and Suraj Thapa of Surunga-4, Jhapa, said Deputy Superintendent of Sunsari Police, Binod Sharma.

Other two — Suman and Nitesh Ghimire Belbari of Morang — accused in the same rape incident are absconding.

According to police, a group of five youths had raped a woman on the Itahari Dharan-Biratnagar road section in Itahari at midnight on Monday.

Police said that they had brought the woman from Dharan on a bus with registration number Ko 1 Kha 4626 and raped her turn by turn.
