Search for missing tourists in Rasuwa intensifies



RASUWA: Search has been intensified for finding the status of two tourists who have gone missing since September 27 while trekking along the Tamang Heritage Trekking Route in north Rasuwa.

The District Police Office said three sniffer dogs have also been mobilized for searching for 27-year-old Tomas of the Netherlands and 42-year-old Sisung of Korea, who had gone missing in course of the trek.

A police search team has been mobilized under the command of Deputy Superintendent Bhogendra Purush Dhakal around the Thuman area under the Tamang Heritage Route based on the information that the two backpackers were seen at the place at 9 am on September 22.

Dozens of security persons have been mobilized in Briddhim, Timure and Langtang area along the Trekking Route since September 26 for searching for the two missing tourists.

As per the logbook maintained by the Tourist Police Post Stafrubesi, the two tourists had stayed overnight at Syafrubesi of Rasuwa on September 13 before going for trekking in the Heritage Trekking Route the next day.

Officers and personnel from the Armed Police Force’s Number 20 Company are also mobilized in the search and rescue. The police search teams are carrying out a search for the missing tourists in and around Goljung, Gatlang, Parbati Kunda, Chilime, Tatopani, Nakthali, Thuman and Bridhhim area in upper Rasuwa notwithstanding the heavy rain and bad weather, Chief District Officer, Arjun Bhandari, said.
