BAGLUNG: Blacktopping works are in full swing on three key roads in Jaimini Municipality.
Two of these roads, which lead to the municipality’s center, are rapidly progressing, while the blacktopping of the road from Kushmisera to Sakurba–Byadthala has reached its final stage.
The combined length of the three roads under blacktopping is five kilometers, with a total cost of Rs 81.8 million.
According to Jaimini Municipality, the roads are being upgraded in collaboration with the federal, provincial, and local governments. In the Takuri section, which connects Baglung and Jaimini municipalities, one kilometer of road is being blacktopped at a cost of Rs 12.667 million.
Additionally, a one-kilometer stretch along the border of Baglung-12 Amalachaur and Jaimini-1 Kushmisera is being blacktopped after undergoing upgrades.
Once completed, it will allow direct access to Kushmisera from Baglung Bazaar via a paved road. Previously, the section from Baglung Bazaar to Kushmisera had been paved except for this segment.
The upgrade contract was awarded in Chaitra 2080 as part of a joint initiative by the Gandaki Province Government, Baglung Municipality, and Jaimini Municipality.
Deputy Mayor of Jaimini, Harihar Sharma, stated that the road from Jaiminidham along the Kaligandaki Corridor to the municipality’s center in Kushmisera is currently being blacktopped intensively.
One kilometer of this road has already been blacktopped to connect Kushmisera with the national highway, and another kilometer is in the final phase.
After the upgrade of the first kilometer from Jaiminidham to the corridor was completed, preparations began for blacktopping that section as well. The construction company is carrying out the work at a cost of Rs 32 million.
Similarly, preparations are underway to blacktop a two-kilometer section of the Maulachh portion of the Kushmisera–Sakurwa–Byadthala road.
This project is being executed in partnership with the Road Users’ Committee, the provincial government, and the local level.
According to Deputy Mayor Sharma, the Ministry of Complementary and Urban Development of Jaimini and the Gandaki Province Government are jointly undertaking this work, with the total cost amounting to Rs 37.2 million.
