Nagdhunga–Naubise road to close for construction work

KATHMANDU: The Nagdhunga–Naubise road section, a major gateway to the capital, will remain closed for four and a half hours in the afternoon to facilitate construction work.

Kathmandu Chief District Officer Rishiram Tiwari stated that the road will be closed from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM from May 24 to June 8.

The temporary closure is being implemented in coordination with the district administrations of Kathmandu and Dhading.

Previously, construction work in the area was carried out at night, but the project team has now requested to shift operations to the daytime due to technical reasons.

“The project initially planned to carry out demolition at night. However, they’ve now recommended that construction activities take place during the day for technical efficiency. Based on this recommendation, daytime work has been authorized,” said CDO Tiwari.

The Narayangadh–Muglin Road Project (Eastern Section) issued a notice stating that during the closure, vehicles heading from Kathmandu will be held at Nagdhunga, while those coming from Naubise will be stopped at Khanikhola.

Travelers have been advised to take alternative routes, including Dharke–Sitapaila and Tokha–Chhahare–Trishuli–Galchhi roads, during the closure period.
