Biswo Poudel likely to be appointed Governor

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba have reportedly reached an agreement to appoint Biswo Poudel as the new Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, according to sources at Baluwatar.

The two leaders met on Tuesday morning at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, where they discussed current political developments and the appointment of the central bank governor.

Due to these political consultations, Prime Minister Oli did not attend the scheduled question-and-answer session in the House of Representatives, which was later removed from the parliamentary agenda.

The appointment of a new governor has been delayed amid internal disagreements within the ruling coalition. A cabinet meeting scheduled for Monday was also postponed.

The meeting between Oli and Deuba, originally planned for Monday, was rescheduled and held on Tuesday.
