Bridge constructed in Buldikhola, Tanahu

TANAHU: A new bridge has been completed over the Buldikhola River, linking Byas Municipality Wards 1 and 2 to the bus park via Karangkath, significantly improving local transportation and access.

Mayor Baikuntha Neupane stated that a single-span bridge has been constructed in the area. The new structure has eased traffic flow to and from the bus park, and made travel more convenient for both vehicles and pedestrians.

The construction contract had set a completion deadline for Bhadra 30, 2082 BS, but the project was successfully finished ahead of schedule, on Baisakh 22, 2082 BS. The bridge measures 25 meters in length and 8.4 meters in width.

The project was completed at a cost of NPR 62,894,690 (including VAT), under Byas Municipality’s supplementary bridge construction plan. Of this amount, NPR 13.5 million was funded by the federal government, with the remaining budget covered by the municipality’s own resources.

Bheshraj Tiwari, Officer at the Planning Branch of Byas Municipality, noted that the timely completion of the bridge has sent a positive message to other contractors, showing that early delivery is possible with commitment and efficiency.

The final installment payment process to the construction company is now underway, following a third-party evaluation by Engineer Vijay Thapa from the Infrastructure Development Office, which approved the project without any objections.

In addition to easing transportation, the bridge is expected to protect approximately 100 homes and nearby settlements along the riverbanks.

Previously, during the monsoon season, the area suffered frequent flooding due to the inability of the existing causeway to handle water overflow, resulting in damage to surrounding communities.
