KATHMANDU: The Embassy of Pakistan in Nepal organized an alumni gathering for Nepali Army officers who received training at various institutions of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
General Gaurav SJB Rana, former Chief of Army Staff of Nepal, attended the event as the chief guest, while another former Chief of Army Staff, General Rajendra Chhetri, participated as the special guest.
A visiting delegation from Pakistan’s National Defence University (NDU) was also present at the occasion.
In his welcome remarks, Colonel Muhammad Ali Alvi, Defence Attaché at the Embassy of Pakistan, traced the history of military cooperation between Nepal and Pakistan.
He highlighted the longstanding and dynamic bilateral relations between the armed forces of both nations, especially in the field of training and capacity building. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued commitment to supporting the professional development of the Nepali Army.
General Gaurav SJB Rana underscored the significant value of the training and capacity-building opportunities provided by Pakistani institutions, stating that they have been highly beneficial both for the institution of the Nepali Army and for the individual officers and soldiers who participated.
Similarly, Ambassador Abrar H. Hashmi emphasized the strong ties between Pakistan and Nepal, built on trust and mutually beneficial cooperation among their people, governments, and armed forces.
He expressed confidence that military-to-military relations between the two countries will continue to grow and reach new heights.
Ambassador Hashmi also strongly condemned what he described as India’s unprovoked aggression, calling it a blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty, the United Nations Charter, and international law.
He warned that such actions threaten regional peace and stability. He stated that Pakistan reserves the right to respond under Article 51 of the UN Charter and will defend its sovereignty by all available means.
