APF enhancing competence in disaster response: Home Minister Lekhak

MANANG: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has praised the Armed Police Force Nepal (APF) for its growing competence in disaster response and border security.

Speaking at the convocation ceremony for graduates of the High Altitude Search and Rescue training conducted by the APF Mountain Rescue Training School in Manang, the Minister highlighted the APF’s effective role in both rescue operations during disasters and in maintaining border security.

Minister Lekhak emphasized that the APF’s efforts in disaster response have earned the trust of citizens both at home and abroad. He commended the agency’s reliability, especially during crises such as border security issues and natural disasters. “The APF’s contribution has made it a dependable support for the public,” he said.

The Home Minister also noted the significance of the high-altitude rescue training in Manang, a prominent tourist destination. He explained that this training would not only benefit the local community but also improve safety for tourists, especially those trekking the Annapurna Conservation Circuit.

Recognizing the area’s contribution to the national economy through tourism, Minister Lekhak underscored the importance of enhancing safety measures for visitors.

APF Inspector General Raju Aryal highlighted that the training would enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of high-altitude rescues, stressing the importance of prioritizing such efforts in mountainous regions.

A total of 45 APF personnel completed the specialized training. The ceremony was attended by Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ramnath Adhikari, and House of Representatives member Tek Bahadur Gurung, among others.
