KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has praised the private sector for its significant contribution to the national economy.
Speaking at an interaction organized by the NC’s Industry and Trade Department today, President Deuba emphasized the importance of the private sector in achieving the country’s economic prosperity.
“Strengthening industries and businesses is key to promoting the market for domestic goods and services,” he said.
Deuba highlighted the role of the private sector in increasing the production of indigenous goods and stressed the need for better coordination between the private sector and the government to create more employment opportunities. He also pointed out the significant role of the digital economy in this process.
“The budget for the next fiscal year should focus on promoting the digital economy, which will support the growth of information technology,” Deuba added.
He expressed confidence that the upcoming fiscal budget would address the concerns of the private sector and help make the economic sector more dynamic.
Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa remarked that while the current government would continue, it must meet the public’s expectations.
Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal called on the government to create an investment-friendly environment for the private sector.
Deepak Malhotra, Senior Vice-President of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, suggested that selling apartments to foreign nationals would not only be beneficial but could also promote eco-tourism development.
He further emphasized the need for policies to attract foreign investment in agriculture.
