HUMLA: The Yari Customs Office in northern Humla has resumed operations after a four-month closure. The office had been shut since December 25 due to extreme cold and heavy snowfall.
Customs services restarted after Office Chief Ramraj Jaisi returned to Hilsa. “The office was closed after notifying the Customs Department when snow began accumulating in the area. It officially reopened on Sunday,” Jaisi said.
The road in the region had been completely blocked by snow during the winter months, halting all traffic. However, with the Hilsa-Simkot Road Project now actively clearing the snow, transport services are expected to resume soon.
Once transportation is restored, the import of goods from Taklakot is also set to recommence, officials said.
