Cabinet to meet at 5 PM; decision on teachers’ demands likely

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Cabinet is set to take place today at 5 PM. During the meeting, a decision is expected to be made on addressing the demands of the agitating teachers.

The Ministry of Education is preparing a proposal to present to the Cabinet, which aims to resolve the concerns raised by the protesting teachers.

Teachers, led by the Nepal Teachers’ Federation, have been demonstrating in Kathmandu for the past 20 days.

The Ministry’s 7-point proposal is expected to address the teachers’ demands, and the agitation is likely to come to an end following the Cabinet’s decision.

On another note, discussions regarding the appointment of the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank have not yet been finalized.

The Cabinet is likely to make a decision once the recommendation committee submits the names of three candidates.

The three-member committee, led by Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel, has not yet completed its recommendations. The position of Governor has remained vacant.
