Foreign Minister calls for upgrades at Tatopani border

KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana has directed authorities to further organize and improve the Tatopani border crossing in Sindhupalchowk, underscoring its strategic importance for trade and tourism.

During an inspection visit to the border point and customs office on Friday, Minister Rana emphasized the need for better infrastructure and coordination, noting that the crossing is projected to generate over Rs 22 billion in annual revenue.

She was accompanied by Nepali Congress lawmaker Mohan Bahadur Basnet and other officials.

Minister Rana highlighted the crossing’s potential to boost religious tourism, especially as it facilitates access to Mansarovar in China. She assured that the government would initiate necessary steps to upgrade the Kathmandu-Kodari international trade route and other connecting roads.

Consultations were also held with local MPs, people’s representatives, and stakeholders to identify essential improvements for the border area.
