Maoist Center resumes awareness campaign from Nawalpur

NAWAPUR: The Maoist Centre has resumed its ‘Maoist Postal Road (HUlaki Marga)-Focused Tarai-Madhes Awareness Campaign’ from Gaindakot in Nawalpur.

The campaign, which initially began in Jhapa, was put on hold after reaching Chitwan on April 3.

Party Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ arrived in Gaindakot on Monday evening to restart the campaign, coinciding with the Nepali New Year.

Expressing his happiness, Chairman Dahal said he was pleased to resume the campaign from Gaindakot.

The campaign formally resumed on Tuesday morning with a ‘morning walk’ of about five kilometers, starting from the Gaindakot Pumping Scheme in Ward 4, according to Prakash Adhikari, Chairman of the Maoist Centre Gaindakot Municipal Committee.

As part of the event, Chairman Dahal laid a wreath at the statue of Nepal’s first martyr, Lakhan Thapa, at Lakhan Chowk in Gaindakot-8. He also met with the families of martyrs, supporters, and local residents affiliated with the party.

Maoist Centre Vice-Chairman Nandakishor Pun is also participating in the campaign.

Chairman Dahal is scheduled to address gatherings in Rajahar (Devchuli Municipality) and Kawasoti, the district headquarters, later today.

Municipal Chair Adhikari mentioned that Tuesday’s campaign programs are focused on the Nawalpur area.

The Maoist Centre plans to conclude the Tarai-Madhes awareness campaign, centered on the historic postal route, with a mass event in Kanchanpur.
