UML to honor seven communist leaders on party foundation day



KATHMANDU: CPN (UML) is going to honor seven communist warriors on the occasion of the party’s foundation day.

UML Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali informed that the Secretariat meeting held at the party central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur, today decided to honor seven distinguished personalities as communist warriors who have made significant contributions to strengthen Nepali communist movement in the country.

According to him, among the personalities to be honored are Lal Bahadur Bishwakarma (Kanchanpur), Ratna Sharma Neupane (posthumous), Bachaspati Devkota (Gorkha), Shanta Manavi (Kathmandu), Satyanarayan Mandal (Saptari), Shobharam Basnet (Dang) and Haricharan Shivakoti (Jhapa).

The meeting also decided to release a book titled “Shelter” containing the memoirs of 34 leaders and activists during the formation of the then CPN (ML) and Coordination Centre.

On another note, leader Gyawali denied the possibility of government change.
The meeting also decided to celebrate the ‘Youth Celebration’ on Baisakh 11 (April 24) in a grand manner as a historic day.

Addressing the meeting, Chairman KP Sharma Oli gave a brief overview of the current political developments in the country.
